Jesus Christ is truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia
Writing to the Corinthians, St. Paul says: “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain; and your faith is in vain.” {1 Cor.15:14}. The Resurrection is the foundation of our faith. It guarantees our own salvation. The Resurrection strengthens and purifies our hope in God’s unfailing mission to save us.
At the Resurrection, the Disciples practiced a different form of social distancing: they were afraid of being hurt. But it was in this atmosphere of great fear, that Jesus stood in their midst and offered them the gift of his presence and peace. Like the disciples, the entire world is living in fear, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are social distancing in solidarity with all humanity to minimize the chances of infection. How can we live out the message of the Resurrection in this situation?
The Resurrection is a miracle that changed irreversibly humanity’s concept of time. As Christians, and in a very special way as Catholics from this scourge, from this sickness, from this scandal, that has changed our understanding of life, faith, love and hope.
We have all seen the gift of compassionate presence that our brothers and sisters, whom we call essential workers have given to those most in need. We have seen the unselfish love of God and neighbor lived out by all classes of health providers, cleaners, security men and women, and clergy. Like the Risen Christ, these men and women have taught us that the remedy to fear, is not escape, but love; the remedy of loss, pain, suffering and death is unconditional love. Like the Risen Christ, these men and women have been scarred.They have given their safety, their health, their bodies and their lives to all of us, simply because we are human. Like Jesus as he breathed his last, when he said: “Father, into your hands I commend my Spirit {Luke 23:46}, these men and women have given their hope, faith and love to God.
The Risen Christ’s response to betrayal, denial, crucifixion and death is everlasting mercy and love. During this Covid-19 pandemic, are we really using the means God has given us to be present to one another as the Risen Christ was present to his disciples? During this Covid-19 pandemic, let us pray for the grace to imitate the Risen Christ,that we may see again, that we may hear the cry of the poor again, that we may have compassion for those who may have betrayed us, in any way, so that we may be present again.

Feliz Pascua a todos ustedes
Jesucristo es verdaderamente resucitado, Alleluia, Alleluia
Al escribir a los corintios, San Pablo dice: “Si Cristo no ha sido resucitado, entonces nuestra predicación es en vano; y tu fe es en vano.” N.o 1 Cor.15:14o. La Resurrección es el fundamento de nuestra fe. Garantiza nuestra propia salvación. La Resurrección fortalece y purifica nuestra esperanza en la misión infalible de Dios de salvarnos.
En la Resurrección, los Discípulos practicaban una forma diferente de distanciamiento social: temían ser heridos. Pero fue en este ambiente de gran temor, que Jesús se puso en medio de ellos y les ofreció el don de su presencia y paz. Al igual que los discípulos, el mundo entero vive con miedo, debido a la pandemia de Covid-19. Estamos al distanciarnos sociales en solidaridad con toda la humanidad para minimizar las posi-bilidades de infección. ¿Cómo podemos vivir el mensaje de la Resurrección en esta situación?
La Resurrección es un milagro que cambió irreversiblemente el concepto de tiempo de la humanidad. Co-mo cristianos, y de una manera muy especial como católicos de esta lacra, de esta enfermedad, de este escándalo, que ha cambiado nuestra comprensión de la vida, la fe, el amor y la esperanza.
Todos hemos visto el don de la presencia compasiva que nuestros hermanos y hermanas, a quienes llama-mos trabajadores esenciales, han dado a los más necesitados. Hemos visto el amor desinteresado de Dios y del prójimo vivido por todas las clases de proveedores de salud, limpiadores, hombres y mujeres de seguri-dad y clérigos. Al igual que Cristo resucitado, estos hombres y mujeres nos han enseñado que el remedio para temer no es escapar, sino el amor; el remedio de la pérdida, el dolor, el sufrimiento y la muerte es el amor incondicional. Al igual que Cristo resucitado, estos hombres y mujeres han sido marcados. Nos han dado su seguridad, su salud, sus cuerpos y sus vidas a todos nosotros, simplemente porque somos hu-manos. Al igual que Jesús, cuando respiró su último, cuando dijo: “Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi Es-píritu , Lucas 23:46, estos hombres y mujeres han dado su esperanza, fe y amor a Dios.
La respuesta de Cristo resucitado a la traición, la negación, la crucifixión y la muerte es la misericordia y el amor eternos. Durante esta pandemia de Covid-19, ¿estamos realmente usando los medios que Dios nos ha dado para estar presentes unos a otros como Cristo resucitado estuvo presente a sus discípulos? Duran-te esta pandemia de Covid-19, oremos por la gracia de imitar a Cristo resucitado, para que podamos volver a ver, para que podamos escuchar de nuevo el clamor de los pobres, para que tengamos compasión por aquellos que nos han traicionado, de cualquier manera, para que podamos estar presentes de nuevo.
