Confirmation
“The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by their words and deeds.” (CCC 1285)
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation, together with Baptism and the Eucharist. Through Confirmation, a baptized person is strengthened by the Holy Spirit and deepened in their relationship with Christ and His Church. The sacrament strengthens us to live out our Catholic faith, to grow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to be faithful witnesses of Christ in our families, our parish, and the world.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year program beginning in the 7th grade at our parish.
All families must be registered in the parish, and students participating in the program must be enrolled in and regularly attend Parish Religious Education classes. The Confirmation sessions are based on a curriculum that emphasizes the importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and living out our Catholic faith. Candidates will also participate in service, attend a retreat, and choose a sponsor.
It is important that each student be an active member of the parish community in which he or she is being initiated.
Older students of high school age, younger than 17, who did not receive Confirmation in their eighth-grade year are asked to contact the Religious Education Office for more information. Resources are available through the Order of Christian Initiation of Children (OCIC) to help these students prepare for the reception of the sacrament. We also work with families who may have children with special needs to help them participate in the process.

Por eso, están, como verdaderos testigos de Cristo, más estrictamente obligados a difundir y defender la fe con sus palabras y sus obras.” (CIC 1285)
El Sacramento de la Confirmación es uno de los tres Sacramentos de Iniciación, junto con el Bautismo y la Eucaristía. Por medio de la Confirmación, la persona bautizada es fortalecida por el Espíritu Santo y profundiza su relación con Cristo y con su Iglesia. Este sacramento nos fortalece para vivir nuestra fe católica, crecer en los dones del Espíritu Santo y ser testigos fieles de Cristo en nuestras familias, nuestra parroquia y el mundo.
En nuestra parroquia, el Sacramento de la Confirmación es un programa de dos años que comienza en el séptimo grado.
Todas las familias deben estar registradas en la parroquia, y los estudiantes que participan en el programa deben estar inscritos y asistir regularmente a las clases de Educación Religiosa de la parroquia. Las sesiones de Confirmación se basan en un plan de estudios que enfatiza la importancia de los dones del Espíritu Santo y de vivir nuestra fe católica. Los candidatos también participarán en servicio comunitario, asistirán a un retiro y elegirán un padrino o madrina.
Es importante que cada estudiante sea un miembro activo de la comunidad parroquial en la que está siendo iniciado.
Los estudiantes mayores, en edad de escuela secundaria y menores de 17 años, que no recibieron la Confirmación en su octavo año de grado deben comunicarse con la Oficina de Educación Religiosa para obtener más información. Hay recursos disponibles a través de la Orden de Iniciación Cristiana para Niños (OCIC) para ayudar a estos estudiantes a prepararse para recibir el sacramento. También trabajamos con familias que tienen niños con necesidades especiales para ayudarles a participar en el proceso.
