Musical Notes | January 5-6

In celebrating Epiphany, all nations are invited to sing the Lord’s praises, for they have been called to hear the good news. The opening hymn is #460 “The First Nowell” at the 5:30 Mass and “Angels from the Realms of Glory” (#438) at the 8:00 and 10:00 Masses; both hymns draw all into the worship of our newborn King. The Ordinary parts of the Mass can be found in the Storrington Mass, starting with #230 Glory to God.  For Epiphany the Psalm is #60 “Every Nation on Earth.” The preparation hymn is “Carol of the Bells” at the 5:30 Mass and “The First Nowell” (#460) at the 8:00 and 10:00 services, reminding us that all is well now that our King is born. For the Communion Hymn, let us offer the gift of ourselves in singing “What Child is This” (#466), while at the end of today’s service, we join the three kings in their search to find Jesus with hymn #463 “We Three Kings of the Orient Are.”
