Notification of Abuse

The Society of Jesus (Jesuits) has released a list of members in their Missouri and New Orleans Provinces credibly accused of having abused a minor. The list includes two men that served at St. Stephen’s Mission.

· Paul C. Pilgram, SJ was assigned at St. Stephen’s Mission, St. Stephen’s (1964-1966). He was restricted from ministry with minors in 1991 and removed from ministry in 2003. He currently lives under supervision.

· Anthony J. Short, SJ was assigned at St. Stephen’s Mission, St. Stephen’s (1974-1977 and 1981-1986). He was removed from ministry in 2008. He currently lives in a skilled nursing facility under supervision.

As always, you should contact your local law enforcement agency or the Department of Family Services if you suspect abuse of a minor.

Please understand that the Diocese of Cheyenne is bound by civil and canon law to report sexual abuse of a minor to civil authorities. Anyone who believes that he or she has been sexually abused is strongly encouraged to report as well.
