Musical Notes | November 24-25

This Sunday we celebrate Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, which continues the liturgical focus on the end of times when Christ our King will come to take us up to our eternal home.  The service opens with #573 “To Jesus Christ Our Sovereign King.”  The cantor and the congregation laud Jesus with Psalm # 1192 “The Lord is King,” while the preparation hymn “Crown Him with Many Crowns” (#574) celebrates Christ for being our King.  In the Communion hymn, “Alleluia, Sing to Jesus” (#949), we are reminded that Christ is both priest and victim in the Eucharistic feast. The service closes with hymn #568 “Rejoice, the Lord is King,” anticipating Christ our King returning to take us to our eternal home.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God”  (Col 3:16 NABRE).
