and I said, who me?
And God said, yes, you.
And I said, but I’m not ready yet,
I have other plans.
You know that there is no one to take my place,
and God said, you’re stalling.
And the Lord said GO.
I said, But I don’t want to and God said I didn’t ask if you wanted to.
And I said, listen, I’m not that kind of person to get involved in arguments and debates.
And what will the neighbors think?
And God said, Baloney.
When the green light flashes don’t cross the street

And the Lord said GO into the Yakima church you just passed.
And I sighed, here I am. send me.
51 years ago, God sent and 51 years ago, I went and here I am bent but not yet spent.

y yo dije, quien yo?
Y Dios dijo, sí, tú.
Y dije, pero todavía no estoy listo,
Tengo otros planes.
Sabes que no hay nadie que ocupe mi lugar
y Dios dijo, te estás estancando.
Y el Señor dijo IR.
Dije, pero no quiero y Dios dijo que no te pregunté si tú querías.
Y dije, escucha, no soy ese tipo de persona que se involucra en discusiones y debates.
¿Y qué pensarán los vecinos?
Y Dios dijo, Baloney.
Cuando la luz verde parpadee, no cruce la calle
vuelve a la iglesia
Yo te diré lo que debes hacer.
Y una tercera vez, el Señor dijo: VAYA.
Y dije, ¿tengo que hacerlo?
Y Dios dijo, ¿me amas?
Y dije, mira, tengo miedo. La gente me odiará y me hará pedazos.
Y no puedo tomarlo todo por mí mismo.
Y Dios dijo, ¿dónde crees que estaré?
Y el Señor dijo: VAYA a la iglesia de Yakima que acaba de pasar.
Y suspiré, aquí estoy. Envíame.
Hace 51 años, Dios envió y hace 51 años, fui y aquí estoy doblado pero aún no gastado.
