We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family with its focus on family life rooted in the unconditional love of God as witnessed by the Holy Family. The opening hymn #455 “Once in Royal David’s City” inspires us through Jesus’s simple beginnings and His redeeming love. All of the Ordinary parts of the Mass can be found in the Storrington Mass, starting with #230 “Glory to God.” In Psalm #86 “Blest Are Those Who Love You” we acknowledge the happiness of those who seek out and follow our Lord. The Preparation Hymn is “Sing of Mary, Pure and Lowly” (#457), which reminds us that the love between parent and child transcends everyday toil. For the Communion Hymn we sing “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” (#433), while at the end of today’s service, we rejoice in tidings of comfort and joy with hymn #435 “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen.”
