Honoring Mary through the Rosary in May

Honoring Mary through the Rosary in May

To honor Mary during the month of May, we will have free rosary beads available in the gathering area of the church. We will also have pamphlets about how to pray the rosary. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for donating these pamphlets. Please take this opportunity to honor Mary by praying the rosary in May.

Encounter God through Prayer

The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes the interaction between God and man through prayer: “‘Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God’ (St. John Damascene, De fide orth. 3, 24:PG 94, 1089C). God tirelessly calls each person to this mysterious encounter with Himself. Prayer unfolds throughout the whole history of salvation as a reciprocal call between God and man” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, at The Holy See, www.vatican.va), §§2590-2591.

Why Pray the Rosary?

In his Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virignis Mariae, Pope John Paul II encouraged Christians to pray the Rosary, saying that “through the Rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer” (John Paul II, Apostolic Letter On the Most Holy Rosary Rosarium Virginis Mariae (16 October 2002), §1.

Please join us in praying the rosary during the month of May. Many graces await!
